Simple rule: pick a salt system that’s about 2× your pool’s gallons.

• Example: 15,000-gallon pool → a system rated ~30,000 gallons. The Plus30 is a great fit (up to 20,000 gal pool would be acceptable).
• Why oversize? Hot Phoenix summers + lots of swimmers = higher chlorine demand. A larger cell meets demand without running at max all the time.
• Benefits: run a lower output% for the same result, which can extend cell life and keep water consistently clean.
• Risk of undersizing: the system can hit its max output and still fall short—then you’re back to manually adding chlorine.

You can always turn a bigger system down; you can’t turn a smaller one past its maximum.

Salt → Chlorine → Salt (the cycle):

• The cell uses electricity to convert dissolved salt (NaCl) into free chlorine (the sanitizer).
• Chlorine circulates and kills bacteria, algae, and contaminants.
• After sanitizing, chlorine converts back to salt, so the same salt keeps getting reused.

Do salt levels drop? Mostly they stay stable. You lose salt only when you lose water (splash-out, backwashing, draining, or leaks). Just top off occasionally.
